The news recently reported an ongoing scam for renters. People advertise a home for rent, collect rent, and pretend to service the lessee. However, they don't own the home or even know the home owner. They scam unknowing renters into paying and, in some cases, they remove their belongings.
In many cases landlords require a background check as well as a credit check. It is wise to check into a landlord as well. Log on to the Clark County website to verify home ownership. Be sure to doublecheck before moving in or paying anything.
